366 Days to Go Ahead!

Dedicated to all our foreign followers.
Here you have some exercises that evaluates and mesures how succesful was 2011 and also helps you to see clearly your goals for 2012.

You are maybe saying, ok, now.. why now? Then let me tell you, never is too late!

This is our initial exercise to review our 2011.

UNDERSTAND THE PATH ALREADY TRAVELED
Let’s begin in a place of gratitude, reviewing the key happenings of 2011.
  • What progress have you made as a person?
  • What are some major happenings in the past year?
  • Were there important new life lessons learned?
  • Unforeseen challenges faced?
An item on the bucket list completed?
All of these things count!

Write this list and take a look at it carefully!
As much as possible, write down the list month by month. This list can provide ideas for the upcoming year as well as a sense of direction and logical next steps; and most importantly, will demonstrate that 2011 has counted!
  1. Use one page per month, and do not hesitate to doodle and draw in each page while you keep on collecting valuable information about your experiences.
  2. Make sure you write down all major emotional happenings and breakthroughs of this year. They are important to identify the space from where you are living your life today.
In order to facilitate this process next year, I advise you to keep a journal, a blog, or an active participation in Facebook. A good use of Google Calendar and e-mail review is also a good tool to keep track of your year.

So, what are you waiting for?
Pick some paper, pen and color markers and get started!

Excercise I
After reviewing our 2011, we will move into a different scenario.
We won't be making resolutions or planning goals, more than that we will be defining and polishing a theme under which to live 2012, and this is the first exercise in that direction, with the purpose of creating the first draft of what later on will become our new year's theme.

UNCOVERING YOUR THEME FOR 2012

As one year winds down and another lies ahead, it’s an excellent time to reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re going. Here are some steps you can take to start uncovering your own theme for the year ahead, use the output of the previous exercise to help yourself out in this task!
  • List your accomplishments for this past year; big and small, tangible and intangible, significant and seemingly insignificant. The idea is to celebrate and recognize that you have done a lot and you are capable of a lot. You’ll be able to refer back to this list of wins whenever you need to reinforce your worth as a capable, committed and persistent winner.
  • For each of your wins, ask yourself what you did to accomplish this, looking at the specific tools, techniques, resources and people that were most helpful.
  • Next, list the things you did not complete, and be really honest with yourself about why you didn’t follow through. Some possible reasons might be:
  1. It seemed like a good idea but turned out not to be
  2. It’s something I thought I should do but didn’t really want to do
  3. I did something else, instead, to please someone else
  4. I did not have the resources I needed to complete this project
  5. I recognized that, for whatever reason, it wasn’t doable at this time and I chose to let it go
Now that you have a clean slate and you’ve set aside your wins and losses from this year, let’s look ahead to next year.
  • Imagine that your are competing in your own version of the Olympics for next year. Choose a top of 5 categories you will be competing in (health, money, love, relationships, career, etc.) and reflect on the goals you need to achieve in each category order to win your Gold Medal.
  • Reflect quietly on everything you’ve written, and sum it all up into one overall theme for the New Year.
Start by saying:
2012 is the Year of _____________

Here are some examples:
The Year of Living Dangerously
The Year of Having Full, Loving Relationships
The Year of Giving Up Struggling
The Year of Adventure
The ME-lenium

This would be the starting point to a more complete and empowering theme that we will be developing if you want!

Play with this process and make it your own.
